Heart failure, sometimes known as congestive heart failure, is a serious condition where the heart does not pump enough blood as it should, to deliver nutrient- and oxygen-rich blood to every parts of the body to function properly. Heart failure develops over time when the heart’s pumping action becomes weaker due to certain conditions, such as coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, high cholesterol or high blood pressure. The condition can affect the right side of the heart only, or both sides. But in most cases the both sides of the heart are always involved.
